Spencer Trafton is an award winning industrial designer, project manager, mentor, and lecturer who is passionate about using design to improve people’s everyday lives through intuitive user experiences. Currently working as a Senior Industrial Design Lead – Advanced Concepts for the R&D consultancy DEKA Research and Development in Manchester NH. Since joining DEKA, Spencer has worked on autonomous robotics, electric aviation, regenerative tissue manufacturing, and various medical devices for diabetes care, dialysis, and patient bedside medicine delivery systems. He continues to lead projects throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept through production and beyond.
Prior to DEKA, Spencer has been a designer at The First Years (TOMY International), mall retailer: Brookstone, multi-disciplinary consultancy: MASH Studios, and has done a large number of consulting projects for companies, including 2 successfully crowdfunded projects through the past 13 years of experience. He has been a guest lecturer on the product development and industrial design process at Rochester Institute of Technology and has led design workshops at New Hampshire high schools.
When not at work, he enjoys the occasional motorcycle track day, making custom furniture pieces, or just doing nothing.
